Every part of the app, explained

Track & Split covers two jobs that usually need two apps — your own spending, and money shared with other people. Here is what each half does.

Automatic tracking from bank SMS

Every bank in India already texts you when money moves. Instead of asking you to retype what your bank just told you, the app reads those alerts and files them.

  • What it extracts: amount, date, merchant or payee, and the last four digits of the account or card.
  • What it recognises: UPI debits and credits, card spends, ATM withdrawals, account debits and credits, refunds, and credit-card transactions kept separate from bank spends.
  • What it ignores: everything that is not a transaction alert from a known financial sender. OTPs, promotions and personal messages are not touched.
  • Where it runs: entirely on your phone. Message contents are never uploaded.

Banks change their message formats from time to time. If something is missed, tell us the format and we will add it.

Splitting bills with people

A group is a shared ledger. Anyone in it can add what they paid, and the app keeps answering one question: who owes whom, and how much.

  • Four ways to split: equally, by exact amounts, by percentage, or by shares — for when one person ate two portions.
  • Group chat built in: the argument about the bill happens next to the bill, not in a separate WhatsApp thread.
  • Settle up: the app works out the smallest set of payments that clears everyone, instead of everyone paying everyone.
  • Receipts: attach a photo so nobody has to remember what the ₹2,400 was for.
  • Works offline too: a local group needs no account at all, if you just want to track a trip on your own phone.

Invites that actually work

Share a link. Tapping it opens the group straight in the app — no code to copy, no "which app?" dialog. There is a QR code too, and the code itself for anyone who prefers typing.

Who can join

Admins choose between anyone with the code and admin approval, and can change their mind later. With approval on, a code only buys a pending request.

Your ledger, five ways

The transactions screen is the app's home, and it changes shape depending on the question you are asking.

  • Daily — a running list, newest first, grouped by day with each day's total.
  • Calendar — a month grid, so heavy days stand out at a glance.
  • Monthly — income against expense, month by month.
  • Total — the whole picture by category.
  • Notes — everything you annotated, in one place.

Stats worth opening

Charts that answer real questions rather than decorating the screen: where the month went, which categories are creeping up, how this month compares with the last, and what each account or card is carrying.

Accounts and credit cards

Keep bank accounts and credit cards separate, because they behave differently. Card spends are tracked as credit rather than folded into your bank outflow, so a month of card use does not read as a month of money leaving.

  • Per-account and per-card transaction history
  • Card bill reminders so a due date does not slip
  • Transactions mapped to the right account automatically from the SMS

AutoPay and mandate reminders

UPI mandates are easy to set up and easy to forget. The app warns you before one debits — today, tomorrow, or a few days out — with the amount and what it is for, so you can cancel it in your bank app while there is still time.

Categories that fit your life

Transactions are categorised as they arrive, and you can rename, add or reorganise categories and subcategories to match how you actually think about your money.

Sound Box announcements

Shops have a soundbox that calls out every payment received. Your phone can do the same — the amount spoken aloud in English or Hindi when money arrives, so you know a payment landed without unlocking anything.

Locked to you

A spending history says a lot about a person. Lock the app behind a PIN or your fingerprint, so handing your phone to someone does not hand them your finances.

Dark mode, done properly

Follows your system theme, with a palette designed for it rather than inverted at the last minute. Checking your balance at midnight should not be painful.

Free, and Pro

The free version is a real app, not a trial. Automatic tracking, stats, accounts, cards, reminders and splitting all work without paying.

Pro removes ads and lifts the limit on the number of split groups you can keep. Subscriptions are handled by Google Play — we never see your card details.

Your data stays yours

Export everything to CSV whenever you like. Delete it from inside the app, by clearing app data, or by uninstalling. Personal tracking works without an account at all — signing in is only needed for shared groups that sync between people.
